The Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam is preparing to host the annual Vaikunta Ekadasi festival. This is scheduled to begin from December 18. The 22-day-long festival is expected to view a huge footfall of devotees that would approximately touch five lakh. This festival is fondly addressed as ’Boologa Vaikundam’ and is being celebrated for several centuries. The festival comprises of Pagal paththu and Raa paththu.This is planned to end on January 8,2018 and a number of events are planned during the course of the festival. The most significant event of Vaikunta Ekadasi, is the opening of Paramapadhavasal and it has been scheduled to commence by the early hours of December 29. A number of arrangements has been planned to enhance security and orderliness.
