Ahead of the Chithirai temple car festival scheduled to be celebrated at the Arulmigu Mariamman temple in Samayapuram on the city outskirts on Tuesday, district police has announced traffic diversions for vehicles heading and entering from Salem, Dindigul, Madurai, Thanjavur and Chennai districts. Police have said that the diversions would remain in effect between 12 noon on Monday and 3pm on Tuesday.
All heavy goods vehicles and mofussil buses from city heading towards Salem will go through Kudamurutti, Jeeyapuram, Pettavaithalai, Kulithalai, Musiri, Thottiyam and Namakkal. The vehicles heading to the city from Salem and Namakkal will be diverted at Musiri Kaikatti and then reach the city via Kulithalai, Pettavaithalai, Jeeyapuram and Kudamurutti.
Heavy goods vehicles from Madurai plying through NH45 B Road towards Chennai via Trichy will be diverted at Lanjamedu kaikatti to go through Manapparai, Andavarkovil Check Post, Kulithalai, Musiri Periyar Bridge, Thuraiyur and Perambalur Bypass.
All heavy vehicles from Chennai approaching Trichy will be diverted at Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pullambadi, Lalgudi and Kollidam New Bridge.
