In continuation with the ideals of
the philanthropic visionary, Shri M. Mooka Pillai, this institution envisions
a better future for the rural poor and works towards this end with a
focus on education for the underprivilaged in general and women in particular.
As
a visionary philanthropic, Shri M. Mooka Pillai foresaw that a solid
foundation in the area of education would be able to significantly
improve the condition
of the rural poor and the underprivilaged sections of society. In a move
towards this goal, he founded the Nehru Memorial College and the inauguration
was done
by none other than the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. C.N. Annadurai.
Established
in 1967, Nehru Memorial College is today an Autonomous Institution
affiliated to the Bharathidasan University. With recognition
from the Univeristy Grants Commission the college offers numerous
Undergraduate, Postgraduate courses and Research Studies, with a special
