Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts

History of the College

Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts, born of its parent institution Kalai Kaviri, belongs to the Catholic diocese of Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu. It was inaugurated in August 1996 and affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Kalai Kaviri has a professional background of 14 years imparting systematic training in Bharathanatyam and South Indian Classical / Music, besides offering University Diploma Courses in Bharathanatyam and Music, and Post-Diploma Course in Bharathanatyam.

The College aims at preserving, promoting and popularizing these cultural treasures of our land among people of all creeds and communities and to train the younger generation in the divine art forms of Dance and Music in order to inculcate self-discipline and build up spiritual strength in them. On completion of their training, the students become full-fledged professionals with creative and leadership qualities and they become eligible for appointment as approved teachers in Fine Arts in Educational Institutions or to run their own institutions for Dance and Music.

As a sign of appreciation and recognition of the pioneering services of Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts, the Government of Tamilnadu has upgraded it as a Government Aided College, from August 2000. Also, the Government has acclaimed the College as the Best Cultural Institution in Tamilnadu, for the year 2000.

Courses Offered:
M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) in BHARATHANATYAM and South Indian Classical Music-Vocal, Violin, Veena, Mirudangam.

Eligibility : BPA or BFA or B.A. Degree in Bharathanatyam or Music

Candidates who have passed their Bachelors Degree in any subject other than Dance with practical experience in Bharathanatyam may apply for admission to M.F.A. But, they are required to pass an eligibility test conducted by the college to enable them to join the M.F.A
