With the noble aim of upliftment
of Women through education in view, the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Charitable
and Educational Trust has established an institution of higher learning
at Perambalur Town in the name of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of
Arts and Science for Women. The Chairman of the trust and the founder
of the College Shri.A.Srinivasan is a renowned visionary of this territory.
His dream of erasing the
illiteracy among Women of the traditionally backward district of Perambalur
is fulfilled on 14th November 1996 when the college started functioning.
The
College was shifted to the new building at its permanent site spread
over 100 acres of land in July 1998. B.B.A in liew of B.Sc.,
Physics was introduced. Further additional sections in B.Com., & B.Sc
Computer Science were started. The College offers totally Twelve UG courses
and Eleven PG courses at present.
The College Building is dexterously
designed Four-Storeyed structure with spacious and well-ventilated
classrooms. All our laboratories
are designed by experts and are supplied with state-of-Art infrastructure
facilities. Internet facility with ISDN line is available for use round
the Clock. The College campus with its ornamental gardens, lush green
lawns and artificial fountain is strikingly beautiful. College Library
is provided with all the necessary facilities. It has on its stocks 8741
books. The total number of journals and magazines
subscribed is 58. Library is air conditioned and fully automated. It
functions from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM daily. Open access system is followed.
Xerox facility is also available.
The landmark achievement of the College
is the ISO 9001-2000 Certification in December 2003.
The student strength
has increased from 45 in the year of inception is 2250 in 2003-2004.
The staff strength increased from 11 to 97, which
included 2 librarians and 1 Physical Director. Increase in the Non-teaching
staff is from 1-25 during the same period. |
