The Trichy Corporation has been praised by the commissioner of municipal administration for outstanding implementation of door-to-door collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. A certificate of merit was awarded to the corporation by state municipal administration minister S P Velumani. Over the last eight months 4,568.55 tones of non-biodegradable waste were collected from the city households. The civic body generated a total of Rs 95.28 lakh on selling this waste and it was distributed among 2000 sanitary workers of the city corporation. With the help of the public the corporation is able to provide the best and it is working to achieve the top rank in the list of clean cities.
